Conemaugh Township Hires School Resource Officer
At the June 2017 meeting of the Conemaugh Township Board of School Directors, Mr. Michael Buncich was hired into the newly created school resource officer (SRO) position. The district created this position in an effort to provide an added layer of security for the students and staff of the district. The SRO will spend time at the middle/high school and elementary school on a daily basis. Some of the primary responsibilities of this position will be as follows:
Mike is a lifelong resident of Conemaugh Township, and he is recently retired from the Pennsylvania State Police with 25 years of service. Mike most recently served as a resource officer for the Windber Area School District during the 2016-17 school year. We feel very fortunate to have Mike coming on board; with his background and experience, he will be a very valuable asset for the entire district.
We invite friends and family to join us in helping raise funds for field trips, assemblies, and other fun and educational activities for CT Elementary students.
Please join us on Saturday, September 23, 2017, for our Little Indians 5K Color Run/Walk. The cost to register for this event is $20 for adults and $10 for children. We hope to see everyone at this fun event.
First Day Of School
The first day of school for students in the Conemaugh Township Area School District is on Wednesday, August 23. Kindergarten orientation will take place on that day at 10:00 a.m. Kindergarten students will not ride the bus to school on the first day. Parents will bring them to school and participate in various activities to help them acclimate to the school environment. We look forward to another successful year at Conemaugh Township Elementary!
